ECO-FRIENDLY TOTE BAG
Recently, tote bags are marketed as a more eco-friendly replacement for disposable plastic bags given how they can be reused multiples times over. But a study from the UK Environment Agency discovered that cotton canvas bags need to be reused at least 327 times before they can match the carbon expenditure of one disposable plastic bag.
But as these tote bags have grown in prestige and ubiquity, their prosperity has encouraged consumers to see them as a disposable item that they don't have to reuse, beating their very goal. Not only do many shops offer cheap or even free tote bags at the register, but they have also come to be a common advertising tool stamped with logos and used by nonprofits and companies as promotional gifts.
This may be seen by a 2014 research that found that owners of reusable bags overlook them on approximately 40% of the grocery trips and use them just around 15 times every day before being lost. Moreover, about half of respondents typically chose to use plastic bags over detachable ones, despite possessing reusable bags and recognizing their benefits
